Possible Causes

Lift sensor triggered by excessive tilt, Faulty tilt sensor module, Loose sensor connector on main board, Damaged chassis causing abnormal tilt readings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF the main power and keep the mower on a flat, stable surface before inspection.

  • Place mower on level ground: Ensure the mower is on a flat area of the lawn or a paved surface. Turn power ON and see if E2 clears after a restart.
  • Check for stuck wheels or obstructions: If one wheel is stuck on a bump or hole, the mower may tilt enough to trigger the sensor. Remove obstacles and level the ground if necessary.
  • Inspect the tilt/lift sensor area: On many Kress models, the tilt sensor is integrated on the IMU / Tilt Sensor Board mounted inside the chassis. Check that the mower has not suffered impact damage or a bent chassis.
  • Check wiring: With power OFF, open the service cover and locate the tilt sensor connector on the Main Control Board. Ensure the plug is fully seated and wires are not pinched or broken.
  • Reset and test: Turn power ON, clear the error, and gently lift the mower to confirm that the error appears and then clears when set down. If E2 appears constantly, the sensor board is likely defective and should be replaced.
