Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF the mower and remove the battery connector before touching the wheels or opening covers.
- Inspect wheels: Check both rear drive wheels for stones, branches, or packed grass around the hubs and inside the wheel arches. Remove any obstructions.
- Rotate wheels by hand: Each drive wheel should turn with some resistance from the gearbox but not be locked. A completely seized wheel indicates gearbox or motor failure.
- Check wheel treads: Remove wrapped wire, rope, or netting from the treads that can lock the wheel.
- Inspect wiring: Inside the chassis, follow each drive motor cable to the main control board. Ensure connectors are fully seated and wires are not cut or pinched.
- Test individually (if menu allows): Some LawnMaster models have a motor test in the service menu. Run each wheel motor separately to identify which side is causing E05.
If a wheel remains dead or trips E05 immediately, the drive motor or gearbox assembly on that side likely needs replacement. If both sides fail, suspect the main control board drive stage and seek professional repair.
