Possible Causes
Defective lift sensor switch, Debris blocking lift sensor mechanism, Chassis not seated correctly on wheel modules, Damaged lift sensor wiring to mainboard
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch the mower OFF and remove the battery connector if accessible before inspecting the underside.
- Check for actual lifting: Ensure the mower is on level ground and not hung up on a curb, tree root, or obstacle that tilts it excessively.
- Clean underside: Turn the mower on its side according to the manual. Remove grass clippings and debris around the lift sensor areas (usually near the front or side chassis mounts).
- Inspect lift switches: Locate the mechanical lift switches or tilt sensors (small plunger or micro-switches). Press them by hand; they should move freely and click. If stuck, gently clean with a soft brush.
- Check wiring: Follow the lift sensor wires to the main control board. Look for broken insulation, pulled connectors, or corrosion at the plug.
- Reassemble, power ON, and test. If E004 still appears on level ground, the lift sensor assembly may need replacement.
