Possible Causes
Dirty or damaged encoder disc on drive motor, Faulty Hall sensor on wheel motor, Loose encoder connector, Water ingress in wheel motor housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and remove the battery. Support the mower securely before removing wheels.
- Inspect wheel modules: Remove the affected wheel cover to access the drive motor. Look for cracks or signs of water inside the housing.
- Clean encoder area: If accessible, gently clean the encoder disc or magnet ring and the sensor area with a dry brush. Do not use solvents.
- Check connectors: Reseat the wheel motor/encoder connector on the main harness and on the motor side.
- Swap sides (advanced): On some NAC models, you can swap left and right wheel modules. If the error moves to the other side, the module is faulty.
- Replace module: If cleaning and reseating do not help, replace the complete NAC drive wheel motor with integrated encoder.
Warning: Incorrect wheel speed feedback can cause unsafe movements. Do not ignore persistent encoder errors.
