Possible Causes
Stuck front bumper, Broken bumper spring, Faulty bumper microswitch, Disconnected bumper sensor cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and wear gloves when working near the front chassis.
- Step 1 – Check bumper movement: Press the front bumper in and release. It should move freely and spring back. If it sticks, clean out grass and dirt from the bumper gap.
- Step 2 – Inspect springs: Look for broken or dislodged bumper springs and refit or replace as needed.
- Step 3 – Access bumper switch: Remove the front cover to access the Sunseeker bumper microswitch or sensor bar. Ensure it is firmly mounted and the actuator is not bent.
- Step 4 – Check wiring: Trace the bumper sensor cable to the main board and confirm the connector is secure.
- Step 5 – Test: Reassemble and gently push the bumper while the mower is in test mode (if available) to confirm proper detection.
If E12 remains and the bumper hardware is intact, the bumper sensor or main board input may be defective.
