Possible Causes

Dust or dirt covering cliff sensors, Cliff sensor window scratched or damaged, Cliff sensor wiring loose on main board, Failed infrared cliff sensor module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock.

Steps:

  • Locate cliff sensors: On Bagotte robot vacuums, cliff sensors are small dark windows on the underside near the front edge (usually 3–4 sensors).
  • Clean the sensors: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe each sensor window. If there is sticky residue, lightly dampen the cloth with water or isopropyl alcohol and wipe again. Do not spray liquid directly on the robot.
  • Inspect for damage: Check for cracks, deep scratches, or cloudiness on the sensor windows. Physical damage can cause false cliff readings.
  • Check sensor openings: Ensure no tape, stickers, or aftermarket bumpers are covering the sensors.
  • Reboot the robot: Turn the power switch OFF for 30 seconds, then ON again to reset the control board.
  • Test on a flat, light-colored floor: Place the robot away from stairs and dark rugs (which can be misread as cliffs) and start a cleaning cycle.
  • If E4 continues: The cliff sensor module set or the main control board may be faulty. Replace the cliff sensor harness first; if that fails, consider main board replacement or professional service.
