Possible Causes

Front bumper jammed by debris, Bumper spring mechanism misaligned, Front IR collision sensors dirty or blocked

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Power the Coredy robot OFF using the main power switch on the side or bottom and remove it from the charging dock before working on it.

  • Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release it. It should move freely and spring back. If it feels stuck, inspect the gap between the bumper and body for lodged debris (toys, cables, carpet fringe).
  • Clean collision sensors: On most Coredy models (e.g., R300, R3500, R650), there are IR collision sensors behind the front bumper window. Wipe the dark plastic window and any visible sensor openings with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Do not use liquids directly on the sensors.
  • Inspect bumper springs and mounts: Turn the robot over and remove the front bumper screws (if accessible on your model). Carefully pull the bumper off and check the small return springs and plastic tabs. Reseat any springs that have popped out and remove hair or dust buildup.
  • Reassemble and reset: Reinstall the bumper, tighten screws snugly (do not overtighten), switch the robot ON, and press the Home or Clean button for 5–10 seconds to reset. Test a cleaning cycle in an open area.

If E1 persists after cleaning and ensuring free bumper movement, the internal bumper switch board or IR collision sensor board may be faulty and should be replaced or serviced by a technician.
