Possible Causes

Stuck front bumper, Dust on front IR sensors, Damaged bumper microswitch, Faulty front sensor PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF before inspecting the bumper.

  • Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release. It should move freely and spring back. If it sticks, inspect for debris wedged between bumper and body.
  • Clean front sensors: Wipe the front IR sensor windows with a dry microfiber cloth.
  • Tap test: With the robot powered on and in standby, gently tap the bumper. You should hear or see a response (beeps or lights) if the switch is working (model dependent).
  • Inspect for cracks: If the bumper is cracked or misaligned from impacts, it may not actuate the internal switches correctly and should be replaced.

Persistent F8 after cleaning and freeing the bumper usually indicates a failed bumper switch or front sensor board that requires replacement.
