Possible Causes

Dust on front IR sensor windows, IR LED or receiver failure, Obstacle sensor board loose, Sensor harness disconnected

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock.

  • 1. Clean front sensors: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to wipe the dark plastic windows on the front and sides of the robot where the IR obstacle sensors are located.
  • 2. Inspect for cracks: Check the sensor windows for cracks or heavy scratches that could distort the IR beam.
  • 3. Reset robot: Power the robot back ON and test navigation in a simple environment with clear walls and few obstacles.
  • 4. Internal inspection (advanced): Remove the top cover and locate the front IR sensor board. Ensure it is firmly mounted and that the wiring harness is fully seated in the main PCB.
  • 5. Replace sensor board: If E12 persists and the sensors are clean and connected, replace the iHome front obstacle sensor board.
