Possible Causes
Front IR receiver window dirty, Dock IR emitter blocked, Strong sunlight or reflective surfaces interfering, IR sensor board loose inside robot
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the robot powered ON but not cleaning while you adjust the dock.
Step-by-step:
- Clean IR windows: Wipe the dark plastic window on the front of the robot and the IR window on the dock with a soft, dry cloth.
- Reposition dock: Place the dock against a wall with at least 1.5 m (5 ft) clear space in front and 0.5 m (1.5 ft) on each side. Avoid direct sunlight and mirrors nearby.
- Test homing: Start the robot and press the Home button (on robot or remote). Observe if it detects and approaches the dock.
- Reduce interference: Turn off bright spotlights or move shiny metal objects that may reflect IR signals.
If E13 persists and the robot cannot see the dock even at close range: The IR docking sensor board or dock emitter may be defective and require replacement.
