Possible Causes
Dust on wheel encoder disc, Encoder sensor misaligned, Broken encoder disc on wheel motor, Loose encoder cable to main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and place it upside down on a soft surface.
Step-by-step:
- Check wheels for free movement: Rotate both drive wheels by hand. Listen for scraping or grinding that may indicate internal debris.
- Access encoder (advanced users): Remove the bottom cover screws and carefully lift the cover to expose the wheel motors. Do not pull on wires.
- Inspect encoder area: On the side of each wheel motor, locate the small plastic encoder disc and optical sensor. Blow away dust with compressed air or a hand blower.
- Check for damage: Ensure the encoder disc is not cracked or loose on the shaft.
- Reassemble carefully: Refit the bottom cover, ensuring no wires are pinched, and test the robot.
If E14 continues: The encoder sensor or wheel motor assembly may need replacement. This is a moderate to advanced repair.
