Possible Causes
Front bumper jammed by debris, Bumper infrared collision sensors blocked, Damaged bumper microswitch, Loose bumper sensor harness to main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the robot OFF and remove it from the dock before inspection.
- 1. Free the bumper:
- Press the front bumper in and release several times. It should move freely and spring back.
- Check for trapped objects (cables, toys, rug edges) between the bumper and the body. Remove any debris.
- 2. Clean collision sensors:
- Locate the small IR windows along the front bumper (often dark plastic lenses).
- Wipe them gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust and fingerprints.
- 3. Check bumper switches (advanced):
- With the robot off, gently shake the bumper; listen for any loose parts.
- If comfortable, remove the front cover screws and inspect the bumper microswitches and wiring harness.
- Ensure the harness is firmly plugged into the main control board.
- 4. Test:
- Power the robot back on and start a cleaning cycle on a flat, open floor.
- If E2 reappears immediately, the bumper sensor assembly may be defective.
- 5. Next step:
- Replace the bumper sensor assembly or contact a technician if you are not comfortable disassembling the front housing.
