Possible Causes
Debris jammed behind front bumper, Stuck bumper microswitch, Faulty front IR obstacle sensor, Loose bumper sensor harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power off the robot before manipulating the bumper.
- 1. Check bumper movement: Gently press and release the front bumper across its width. It should move freely and spring back without sticking.
- 2. Remove debris: Inspect the gap between the bumper and the body. Use compressed air or a thin plastic card to dislodge dust, hair, or small objects that may be wedged inside.
- 3. Clean front IR windows: Wipe the front-facing IR sensor windows with a soft cloth to remove dust that can cause false obstacle detection.
- 4. Reset robot: Perform a system reset by holding the power button (or Power + Home) for 10–15 seconds. Then restart a cleaning cycle.
- 5. Advanced inspection: If the bumper still appears stuck logically (error persists), remove the top or front cover (depending on model) to access the bumper switches. Verify that the microswitches click when pressed and that the harness is firmly connected. Replace the bumper switch assembly if a switch is physically damaged or not actuating.
