Possible Causes

Cliff sensor lenses dirty, Cliff sensor blocked by tape or stickers, Cliff sensor wiring loose, Cliff sensor module failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and place it upside down on a table.

  • Step 1 – Locate cliff sensors: Find the small downward-facing IR sensors along the front and sides of the underside.
  • Step 2 – Clean lenses: Use a dry microfiber cloth or cotton swab to gently wipe each sensor window. For stubborn grime, lightly dampen the cloth with water and dry immediately.
  • Step 3 – Remove obstructions: Ensure no stickers, tape, or aftermarket bumpers are covering the sensors.
  • Step 4 – Test on light surface: Place the robot on a flat, light-colored floor (not dark carpet or glass) and power ON. Dark or reflective surfaces can sometimes trigger false cliff readings.
  • Step 5 – Reset and test: Start a cleaning cycle. If E6 persists, the cliff sensor board or its cable may be damaged and require replacement.
