Possible Causes
Front bumper jammed by debris, Bumper travel limited by trapped cable or wall molding, Dust in bumper infrared impact sensors, Deformed bumper springs or guides
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power off the robot and remove it from the dock.
Step-by-step:
- Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release. It should move freely and spring back evenly on both sides. If it feels stuck, continue with cleaning.
- Remove debris: Inspect the gap between the bumper and the main body. Use a flashlight to look for small toys, cables, or dirt. Remove any obstruction with tweezers or a soft brush.
- Clean bumper sensors: On many Roborock models, IR sensors are behind the bumper. Use compressed air or a soft brush to blow out dust from the bumper gap.
- Tap the bumper: With the robot powered on, gently tap the bumper several times across its width to help reset the internal switches/sensors, as recommended in the voice prompt.
- Restart cleaning: Power cycle the robot and start a short cleaning run in an open area to confirm the error is cleared.
If the bumper still sticks: The bumper spring or internal impact switch assembly may be damaged or misaligned. Disassembly of the front shell is required; if you are not comfortable opening the unit, contact a technician.
