Generator shuts down and displays E007 Low Coolant Level
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the engine to cool fully before opening any part of the cooling system. Pressurized hot coolant is dangerous.
- Inspect coolant level: Check the expansion tank and radiator (when cool). If low, top up with the specified coolant mix and note how much is added.
- Look for external leaks: Examine radiator, hoses, clamps, water pump weep hole, and heater lines for wet spots or dried coolant residue. Tighten clamps and replace cracked hoses.
- Check coolant level sensor: Many Atlas Copco sets use a float or probe in the expansion tank. Remove and clean the sensor, checking for sludge buildup. Test continuity or resistance per the service manual and replace if faulty.
- Pressure test system (advanced): A cooling system pressure test can reveal small leaks. This is best done by a technician.
- Monitor level: After refilling, run the generator and recheck the level after cool‑down. Rapid loss indicates a significant leak or internal engine fault.
Do not bypass the coolant level sensor for normal operation. Persistent coolant loss requires professional investigation.
