Safety first: Turn the generator to OFF and disable AUTO mode. Allow moving parts to stop completely. Keep open flames away from fuel sources.
- Verify fuel supply: For gasoline Pulsar standby units, check the fuel tank level and ensure the fuel shutoff valve is fully open. For LPG/NG models, confirm the cylinder or gas cock is open and that there is gas in the tank.
- Bleed air from fuel line (if recently serviced or tank ran dry): On gasoline models, loosen the carburetor bowl drain screw slightly and allow fuel to flow until a steady stream appears, then retighten. On LPG/NG, cycle the manual shutoff valve and wait a few minutes to stabilize pressure.
- Inspect spark plug: Remove the spark plug using a plug socket. Check for heavy carbon, oil fouling, or a cracked insulator. Clean with a wire brush and set the gap to the Pulsar-specified value, or replace with the exact recommended plug type.
- Check ignition coil connection: Ensure the high-tension lead from the ignition coil to the spark plug is firmly seated and not damaged.
- Reset controller: Clear E03 by switching the controller OFF for 30 seconds, then back to MANUAL and attempt a start. If the engine still will not fire, further diagnosis of the ignition coil and fuel system is required.
Persistent overcrank faults after verifying fuel and spark usually require professional testing of the ignition coil, control board, and fuel regulator.
