Possible Causes
Control board firmware glitch, Power surge or brownout, Loose main control connectors, Failed main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the control panel or main board.
- 1. Power cycle: Unplug the unit for at least 10 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge. Plug back in and attempt to run a rinse & spin cycle.
- 2. Check power supply: Verify the outlet voltage with a meter (typically 120/240V depending on model). Avoid using long extension cords or power strips.
- 3. Inspect control connections: Remove the top or rear panel to access the main control board. Reseat all harness connectors one at a time, ensuring they are fully locked in.
- 4. Look for damage: Examine the control board for burn marks, swollen components, or corrosion. If present, the board should be replaced.
- 5. Run diagnostic mode: Enter the Speed Queen service/diagnostic mode per the tech sheet (usually located inside the cabinet). Note any additional stored error codes to narrow the fault.
- 6. Replace control board: If Er persists after reseating connectors and power reset, install a new OEM main control board. Transfer any jumpers or settings as specified in the service manual.
- 7. Surge protection: After repair, consider using a dedicated circuit with surge protection to prevent future control damage.
