Possible Causes

Failed BWT conductivity probe, Fouled sensor with iron or scale, Loose sensor wiring, Sensor installed in wrong orientation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and close water valves before removing any sensor from the water path.

  • Locate sensor: Some advanced BWT softeners use a conductivity or hardness sensor on the outlet manifold. Identify it from the manual.
  • Clean sensor tip: Remove the sensor and gently clean the probe surfaces with a soft brush and mild descaling solution. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Check orientation: Ensure the sensor is reinstalled in the correct flow direction and fully seated with its O-ring intact to prevent leaks.
  • Verify wiring: Confirm the sensor cable is intact and firmly connected to the control board.
  • Recalibrate if required: Follow BWT instructions to recalibrate or reset the hardness sensor after cleaning.

If E10 persists, replace the BWT hardness/conductivity sensor. Continued issues may indicate a control board fault.
