Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Corroded sensor connector due to condensation, Broken sensor harness at evaporator area, Faulty main control board sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect power before removing interior panels. Edges of metal panels and evaporator fins can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.

Diagnostic steps:

  • Access the evaporator area: Remove interior shelves and the rear inner plastic panel. The evaporator coil and its sensor are usually behind this panel in Fagor wine coolers.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: It is typically clipped to the evaporator tubing or embedded in foam near the coil, with two thin wires leading to a connector.
  • Visual inspection: Check for corrosion, broken wires, or a sensor that has fallen away from the coil. Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface.
  • Measure resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to the cabinet sensor if known; they are often similar NTC types. A reading of open circuit or near 0 Ω indicates failure.
  • Check harness continuity: Trace the wires from the sensor to the main PCB (usually behind the rear metal service panel). Test continuity end-to-end and repair any breaks.
  • Replace the evaporator sensor: If readings are out of range, install a new Fagor evaporator NTC sensor. Clip it securely to the coil in the original position to ensure accurate defrost and temperature control.
  • If sensor and wiring are OK: The main control board may misread the sensor. Replace the main PCB if E2 persists after sensor replacement.

Note: Do not puncture insulation or evaporator tubing when accessing the sensor; refrigerant leaks require professional service.
