Possible Causes
Faulty inverter PCB, Open or shorted compressor windings, Loose compressor terminal connections, DC bus voltage error on outdoor PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: High voltage DC is present on inverter boards. Only basic visual checks should be done by non-professionals.
- Power cycle: Turn off power for 10–15 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge, then restore and test. If E6 reappears, continue.
- Listen for compressor: When starting, note if the outdoor unit clicks and hums or remains silent. No sound may indicate inverter PCB failure.
- Visual inspection: With power off and cover removed, inspect the outdoor PCB for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or a burnt smell.
- Check compressor terminals: Ensure the compressor terminal cover is intact and that wires are firmly attached (do not remove terminals unless qualified).
- Do not attempt live testing: Inverter diagnostics require specialised tools. If E6 persists, contact an authorised AEG service centre for PCB and compressor testing.
