Indoor unit emits a musty or mouldy smell when starting

Safety: Turn off power. Wear gloves and a mask if sensitive to mould.

• Clean filters: Wash filters thoroughly with warm soapy water and disinfectant.
• Clean coil: Use a non-rinse evaporator coil cleaner approved for air conditioners. Spray onto the coil and allow it to work as per instructions.
• Clean drain pan: Wipe the drain pan with a cloth and mild disinfectant to remove slime and mould.
• Run in FAN mode: After cleaning, run the unit in FAN-only mode for 30–60 minutes to dry the coil.
• Regular maintenance: Repeat cleaning every few months to prevent odours returning.
