Possible Causes

Blocked outdoor coil, Failed outdoor fan motor, Low refrigerant causing high discharge temperature, Overcharged system, Faulty discharge sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker. The compressor and discharge line can be very hot.

Steps:

  • 1. Check outdoor fan: Confirm the outdoor fan runs when the unit is on. If not, troubleshoot the fan motor (see E7).
  • 2. Clean outdoor coil: Remove debris and dirt from the condenser coil. Use a soft brush or low-pressure water, avoiding damage to fins.
  • 3. Ensure clearance: Make sure there is adequate space around the outdoor unit for airflow (typically at least 30–50 cm on sides and more above).
  • 4. Inspect discharge sensor: Check the compressor discharge sensor placement and wiring (see F3).
  • 5. Professional refrigerant check: If H3 recurs after airflow issues are corrected, a technician must check refrigerant charge and system pressures.
