Possible Causes

Failed indoor fan motor, Obstructed blower wheel, Faulty fan capacitor (on AC motors), Loose fan connector on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker. Fan blades and blower wheels are sharp; wear gloves.

Steps:

  • 1. Check fan settings: Ensure fan speed is not set to the lowest or Quiet mode, which may feel weak.
  • 2. Inspect blower wheel: Open the front panel and look for plastic bags, insulation, or other debris stuck in the blower.
  • 3. Spin test: With power OFF, gently rotate the blower wheel. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be failing.
  • 4. Check wiring: Access the control box and verify the fan motor connector is firmly seated on the indoor PCB.
  • 5. Replace motor (and capacitor if applicable): If the motor does not run even with correct voltage (technician test), replace the indoor fan motor with a compatible Airwell part. On older AC-motor models, also replace the fan capacitor.
