Possible Causes
Dead remote batteries, Faulty remote control, Defective IR receiver board, Obstruction between remote and unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before removing the front cover to access the receiver board.
Steps:
- 1. Replace batteries: Install fresh, correct-type batteries in the remote.
- 2. Test remote IR output: Point the remote at a smartphone camera and press buttons. A flashing light on the screen indicates IR output.
- 3. Clear line of sight: Ensure nothing is blocking the IR receiver window on the indoor unit.
- 4. Inspect receiver board: Remove the decorative front cover and locate the IR receiver/display board. Check the connector to the main PCB and reseat it.
- 5. Replace receiver board: If the remote is working but the unit does not respond, replace the IR receiver board with a compatible Airwell part.
