Possible Causes
Undersized electrical circuit, loose power connections, utility brownout, failing power cord or plug, defective power supply on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit or turn off the breaker before inspecting power connections. Use a properly rated multimeter.
Steps to address LO (low voltage):
- Measure supply voltage: With power on and unit unplugged, measure voltage at the receptacle. It should be within ±10% of the rated voltage (e.g., 103–127V for 115V units).
- Inspect plug and cord: Look for discoloration, melted plastic, or loose blades. Replace the power cord if damaged.
- Check dedicated circuit: Ensure the AC is on its own circuit with the correct breaker size. Tighten connections in the breaker panel if qualified to do so.
- Internal connections: With power off, open the control compartment and verify that line and neutral connections are tight and not burnt.
- Control board: If supply voltage is correct but LO persists, the internal power supply on the control board may be faulty and require board replacement.
Operating the unit on low voltage can damage the compressor; do not bypass low-voltage protection.
