Possible Causes
Tripped main HVAC breaker, Blown indoor transformer fuse, Failed 24V transformer, Faulty thermostat or no power to thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the main panel before opening the air handler or furnace.
- Check main breakers: Verify that both the indoor and outdoor unit breakers are ON and not tripped. Reset if necessary.
- Check thermostat display: If the thermostat is blank, replace batteries (if applicable). If still blank, there may be no 24V power.
- Inspect low-voltage fuse: On the indoor control board, check the 3A/5A fuse and replace if blown. If it blows again, there is a short that must be found.
- Professional transformer test: If the fuse is intact but there is no 24V between R and C, a technician should test and replace the 24V transformer if failed.
