Possible Causes

Full base pan due to high humidity, Blocked internal drain passage, Failed condensate pump (if equipped), Faulty float switch in base pan

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before tilting or draining. Water may spill; protect flooring.

Steps to clear P1:

  • Drain base pan: Locate the lower drain outlet (often behind a rubber plug). Place a shallow pan under it and remove the plug to drain water completely.
  • Check for repeated filling: If P1 returns quickly, inspect the internal drain path from the evaporator tray to the base pan for clogs (slime, dust). Clean with warm water and a small brush.
  • Float switch inspection: Access the base pan (remove rear/lower panels) and locate the float switch. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the up position.
  • Test switch: With a multimeter, check continuity while moving the float. Replace the base pan float switch if it does not operate correctly.
  • Condensate pump (if present): Some models use a small pump. Listen for pump operation when water is present. If silent and P1 persists, the condensate pump may need replacement by a technician.
