Possible Causes
Failed reversing valve (heat pump models), Internal air duct disconnected, Exhaust hose incorrectly installed (portable), Blocked return air path
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening panels.
Steps to correct warm air in cool mode:
- Verify mode: Confirm the unit is set to Cool, not Fan or Heat.
- Portable exhaust: Ensure the exhaust hose is connected to the hot air outlet and vented outside. If reversed or disconnected, hot air will recirculate into the room.
- Check air paths: Inspect internal foam ducts and baffles (portable units) for dislodgement or damage. Re-seat or replace any loose air duct panels.
- Heat pump reversing valve: On heat pump models, if the unit heats when set to cool, the reversing valve may be stuck. This requires a technician to test and possibly replace the reversing valve.
