Possible Causes
Open-circuit room sensor, Shorted room sensor, Loose sensor connector on indoor PCB, Damaged indoor PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the indoor unit casing.
- Step 1 – Locate room sensor: Open the front panel and remove the filter. The room temperature sensor (NTC) is usually clipped near the air intake or behind the front grille on Ariston indoor units.
- Step 2 – Check sensor wiring: Inspect the thin sensor wires for cuts, pinches, or disconnections. Ensure the plug is firmly seated on the indoor PCB connector.
- Step 3 – Clean sensor area: Dust buildup can affect readings. Gently clean around the sensor with a soft brush or compressed air.
- Step 4 – Replace sensor if damaged: If the sensor capsule is broken or the wires are cut, replace the room temperature sensor with an Ariston-compatible NTC sensor assembly.
- Step 5 – PCB check: If a known-good sensor is installed and E05 persists, the indoor PCB sensor circuit may be faulty and require replacement by a technician.
