Possible Causes
Seized indoor cross-flow fan, Faulty indoor DC fan motor, Loose fan motor connector, Faulty indoor PCB fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the indoor unit. Fan blades can be sharp.
- Step 1 – Check for physical blockage: Open the front panel and look into the blower area. Remove any foreign objects (plastic, paper, insects) that may block the fan.
- Step 2 – Spin test: With power OFF, gently rotate the indoor fan wheel by hand. It should spin freely. If stiff or noisy, the bearings may be failing.
- Step 3 – Inspect motor wiring: Remove the indoor cover to access the fan motor. Check the connector to the PCB and ensure it is fully seated.
- Step 4 – Test operation: Restore power and run the fan-only mode. If the fan does not start or E12 appears, the motor is likely defective.
- Step 5 – Replace fan motor: Remove the fan wheel and replace the indoor fan motor with the correct Ariston motor assembly. If a new motor still does not run, the indoor PCB fan driver may need replacement.
