Possible Causes

Faulty compressor discharge NTC sensor, Sensor detached from discharge pipe, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty outdoor PCB sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and allow the outdoor unit to cool before touching any pipes; discharge line can be very hot.

  • Step 1 – Locate discharge sensor: On the outdoor unit, find the sensor clipped to the small-diameter hot gas pipe leaving the compressor.
  • Step 2 – Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly in contact with the pipe and secured with the original clip or clamp.
  • Step 3 – Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the PCB, checking for cuts or loose connectors. Reseat the connector.
  • Step 4 – Replace sensor: If the sensor body is cracked or cable damaged, replace with the correct Ariston discharge NTC sensor.
  • Step 5 – PCB diagnosis: If E17 persists with a new sensor, the outdoor PCB sensor input may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
