Indoor unit emits a musty or moldy smell when starting.

Safety first: Turn off power before cleaning. Wear gloves and a mask if sensitive to mold.

• Step 1 – Clean filters: Remove and wash filters thoroughly. Dry completely before reinstalling.
• Step 2 – Clean evaporator coil: Use a foaming coil cleaner suitable for indoor coils. Apply according to instructions and allow it to drain into the pan.
• Step 3 – Disinfect drain pan: Access the drain pan and clean with a mild bleach solution or coil disinfectant to kill mold and bacteria.
• Step 4 – Run in FAN mode: After cleaning, run the unit in FAN-only mode for 30–60 minutes to dry the coil and reduce moisture.
• Step 5 – Regular maintenance: Repeat cleaning every 6–12 months to prevent recurrence.
