Possible Causes
Incorrect thermostat sensor placement, Oversized unit for room, Dirty filters causing temperature stratification, Faulty room temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing sensors.
- Step 1 – Check set temperature and mode: Ensure the unit is not set too close to ambient temperature and that the correct mode (COOL/HEAT) is selected.
- Step 2 – Clean filters and coil: Dirty filters and coils can cause uneven temperature sensing. Clean as per maintenance instructions.
- Step 3 – Sensor placement: Verify the room sensor is in the correct location inside the indoor unit and not touching the coil or exposed to direct cold air from the outlet.
- Step 4 – Avoid obstructions: Do not block the unit with curtains or furniture, which can cause the sensor to read incorrectly.
- Step 5 – Sensor replacement: If short cycling persists, the room temperature sensor may be faulty and should be replaced.
