Possible Causes

Loose compressor mounting bolts, Fan blade imbalance, Unit not level, Missing or deteriorated rubber isolation pads

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the disconnect before adjusting or reaching into the unit.

Steps:

  • 1. Check level: Place a level on top of the condenser. Shim the pad or base to level the unit if significantly off.
  • 2. Inspect mounting hardware: Remove the top and inspect compressor mounting bolts and rubber grommets. Tighten loose bolts but do not overtighten—allow some isolation.
  • 3. Examine fan blade: Look for bent blades or debris stuck to the blade causing imbalance. Straighten or replace as needed.
  • 4. Add isolation pads: Install rubber or neoprene pads under the unit’s feet to reduce vibration transfer to the structure.
  • 5. If vibration persists: Internal compressor issues may be present; consult a technician.
