Armstrong Air
Ductwork Condensation
Water dripping from supply registers or sweating on ductwork during cooling

Possible Causes
Poor duct insulation, High indoor humidity, Supply air temperature too low, Air leaks in ducts drawing in humid air
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Be cautious when working in attics or crawlspaces. Watch for exposed wiring and weak structures.
Steps:
- 1. Check filter and airflow: Ensure proper airflow to prevent excessively cold supply air.
- 2. Inspect duct insulation: In unconditioned spaces, verify that supply ducts are fully insulated and that the vapor barrier is intact.
- 3. Seal duct leaks: Use mastic or UL-181 foil tape to seal visible leaks at joints and seams, especially near the air handler and trunk lines.
- 4. Control humidity: Use the system’s dehumidification mode if available, or run a standalone dehumidifier in very humid climates.
- 5. Adjust thermostat: Avoid setting the thermostat extremely low, which can drive coil and supply temperatures down and increase condensation.
