Possible Causes
Open-circuit room temperature sensor, Shorted room temperature sensor, Loose sensor connector on indoor PCB, Faulty indoor main PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power to the Baxi air conditioner before opening the indoor unit.
Steps:
- 1. Access the sensor: Open the front panel and remove the air filters. The room temperature sensor (NTC) is usually clipped near the indoor coil inlet or in the return air path, connected by thin wires to the PCB.
- 2. Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor bulb is properly clipped in its holder and not hanging loose or touching metal parts that could cause false readings.
- 3. Inspect wiring and connector: Follow the sensor wires to the indoor PCB. Reseat the connector and check for broken or pinched wires.
- 4. Test resistance (if you have a multimeter): Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature (typically 5–20 kΩ depending on model). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a failed sensor.
- 5. Replace sensor if faulty: Order a Baxi-compatible indoor room temperature NTC sensor and swap it like-for-like, routing the cable as originally installed.
Note: If a known-good sensor still gives E02, the indoor main PCB sensor circuit may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
