Possible Causes
Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from coil, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty indoor main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the indoor unit.
Steps:
- 1. Locate the evaporator sensor: Remove the front panel and filters. The evaporator NTC is usually clipped directly onto the indoor coil tubing.
- 2. Check physical contact: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the coil and not hanging free. Poor contact can cause incorrect readings.
- 3. Inspect cable: Look for cuts, abrasions, or signs of moisture ingress along the sensor cable. Reseat the connector on the indoor PCB.
- 4. Resistance test: With the sensor unplugged, measure resistance. Compare to Baxi service data if available; a reading of 0 Ω or infinite Ω indicates failure.
- 5. Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new Baxi evaporator NTC sensor, ensuring it is clipped tightly to the coil in the same position.
Technician tip: If multiple sensors read incorrectly, the indoor PCB may be at fault and should be tested and replaced by a professional.
