Possible Causes
Failed outdoor ambient NTC sensor, Sensor not located in free air, Damaged sensor cable, Faulty outdoor PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power before opening the outdoor unit.
Steps:
- 1. Locate ambient sensor: It is usually mounted on the outdoor unit frame or grille, away from the coil, exposed to outdoor air.
- 2. Check mounting: Ensure it is not touching hot surfaces or enclosed where it cannot sense true ambient temperature.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Look for damage or corrosion at the connector. Reseat the plug on the outdoor PCB.
- 4. Test and replace: Measure resistance; if open/shorted, replace with a Baxi ambient NTC sensor.
