Air conditioner runs but does not cool the room effectively

Safety: Turn off power before cleaning coils or filters.

• 1. Clean indoor filters: Remove and wash filters with mild soap and water. Dry completely before reinstalling.
• 2. Clean indoor coil surface: With filters removed, gently vacuum or brush dust from the evaporator fins.
• 3. Clean outdoor unit: Remove debris from around the outdoor unit. Rinse the coil with low-pressure water from inside out.
• 4. Check fan speeds: Use the remote to set fan to HIGH and verify strong airflow from the indoor unit.
• 5. Check room conditions: Close doors and windows, and reduce heat sources (ovens, direct sun) where possible.
• 6. If performance is still poor: A technician should check refrigerant charge and system pressures.
