Possible Causes
Open-circuit room NTC sensor, Shorted room NTC sensor, Corroded or loose NTC connector on indoor PCB, Failed indoor main PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the air conditioner with the remote, then switch off the circuit breaker or unplug the unit before removing any covers.
Steps to check and fix:
- 1. Power reset: Leave power off for 5–10 minutes, then restore power and try again. If E1 returns, continue.
- 2. Access indoor PCB: Remove the front panel and filter, then remove the small PCB cover on the right side of the indoor unit (wall-mounted split type).
- 3. Locate room NTC sensor: Find the small thermistor (usually in front of the evaporator coil or near the air intake) connected by two thin wires to the indoor PCB.
- 4. Check connections: Ensure the NTC plug is fully seated on the PCB and that wires are not cut, pinched, or corroded. Reseat the connector.
- 5. Basic resistance check (for qualified users with a multimeter): Disconnect the NTC from the PCB and measure resistance at room temperature (around 20–25°C). Typical Beko NTCs read between 5–20 kΩ. If reading is infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (short), the sensor is faulty.
- 6. Replace sensor if faulty: Order a compatible Beko indoor room temperature sensor (NTC). Remove the old sensor from its clip or bracket, route the new sensor wiring along the same path, and reconnect to the PCB.
- 7. If sensor tests OK: The indoor PCB sensor circuit may be defective. At this point, replacement of the indoor main PCB is usually required and is best done by a qualified technician.
Do not operate the unit with covers removed or if wiring is exposed.
