Possible Causes
Open or shorted outdoor ambient NTC sensor, Sensor displaced from its mounting point, Corroded connector due to weather exposure, Failed outdoor PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off the outdoor unit at the breaker before opening the panel.
- 1. Locate ambient sensor: On many Beko outdoor units, the ambient sensor is mounted near the air intake grille or on the control box frame, exposed to outside air.
- 2. Visual inspection: Check that the sensor is intact and not dangling or broken. Ensure it is not buried in insulation or touching hot components.
- 3. Check wiring and connector: Follow the sensor wires into the control box and reseat the connector on the outdoor PCB. Clean any visible corrosion.
- 4. Resistance test: At ambient temperature, measure the sensor resistance. Replace if readings are open, shorted, or far from expected NTC values.
- 5. Replace sensor: Install a new Beko outdoor ambient temperature sensor and secure it in the original location.
- 6. If E5 persists: The outdoor PCB may be defective and should be diagnosed by a technician.
