Possible Causes
Seized or obstructed indoor cross-flow fan, Failed DC indoor fan motor, Faulty fan motor hall sensor feedback, Defective indoor PCB fan driver circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before touching the fan or motor. Fan blades can be sharp.
- 1. Check for blockage: Remove the front panel and filters. Inspect the cross-flow (drum) fan for dust buildup, foreign objects, or ice. Clean and remove obstructions.
- 2. Spin test: With power off, gently rotate the fan by hand. It should spin freely without grinding or tight spots. If stiff, the motor bearings may be failing.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Locate the indoor fan motor connector on the PCB and ensure it is fully seated. Check for damaged wires.
- 4. Power-on test (caution): Briefly restore power and command the unit ON while observing the fan. If it hums but does not start, or starts then stops with E8, the motor is likely faulty.
- 5. Replace fan motor: Remove the indoor unit cover, detach the fan motor from its bracket, and slide out the fan drum as needed. Install a new Beko indoor fan motor and reassemble.
- 6. If a new motor does not resolve E8: The indoor PCB fan driver may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
