Possible Causes
Very low indoor airflow due to clogged filters, Indoor fan motor running too slowly or not at all, Low refrigerant charge causing coil to freeze, Faulty indoor coil temperature sensor misreading low temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before cleaning or accessing internal parts.
- 1. Clean filters: Remove and wash the air filters with mild detergent. Dry completely and reinstall.
- 2. Check indoor fan operation: With power restored, start the unit and verify strong airflow. If airflow is weak or intermittent, inspect the fan motor and see fan fault entries.
- 3. Inspect coil for ice: Turn off the unit and open the front panel. If the evaporator coil is covered in ice, leave the unit off until all ice melts (may take several hours).
- 4. Improve airflow: Ensure supply and return air are not blocked by furniture or curtains.
- 5. If freezing recurs: Low refrigerant or a faulty sensor may be the cause. Contact a technician to check refrigerant charge and sensor operation.
