Possible Causes
Outdoor coil blocked by dirt or debris, Outdoor fan motor not running or intermittent, Overcharged refrigerant, Faulty outdoor coil temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the outdoor unit.
- 1. Clean outdoor coil: Remove leaves, plastic bags, and debris from the grille. Use low-pressure water to rinse the coil fins from inside out.
- 2. Check outdoor fan: Restore power briefly and observe if the fan starts with the compressor. If not, see outdoor fan motor fault.
- 3. Ensure clearance: Maintain at least 30–50 cm clearance around the outdoor unit for proper airflow.
- 4. Reset and test: After cleaning, power cycle the system and test in heating mode.
- 5. If F3 persists: A technician should check refrigerant charge and the outdoor coil sensor.
