Indoor unit emits a musty or moldy smell when starting

Safety: Turn off power before cleaning. Avoid inhaling dust or mold; wear a mask if sensitive.

• 1. Clean filters: Wash filters thoroughly and dry.
• 2. Clean coil surface: Use a coil-safe cleaner or mild detergent spray on the evaporator fins. Allow to soak, then gently rinse or wipe.
• 3. Clean drain pan: Wipe the pan with a cloth and a mild disinfectant solution to remove slime and odor-causing buildup.
• 4. Run in FAN mode: After cleaning, run the unit in FAN-ONLY mode for 30–60 minutes to dry the coil.
• 5. Consider periodic cleaning: In humid climates, schedule professional deep cleaning of the indoor unit annually.
