Possible Causes
Room thermistor out of calibration, Thermistor located in dead air spot or near heat source, Control board interpreting sensor incorrectly, Heat from electronics affecting sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before moving or replacing sensors.
- Compare readings: Place a reliable thermometer near the unit's air intake and compare to the displayed temperature.
- Relocate sensor slightly: If the room thermistor is directly above the control board or near warm components, gently reposition it closer to the air intake path, away from heat sources.
- Insulate from board heat: Ensure the sensor wires are not bundled tightly against warm PCB components.
- Replace thermistor: If readings remain significantly off, replace the room temperature thermistor with a Black+Decker-compatible part.
