Possible Causes
Loose or oxidized communication cable between user interface and main PCB, Damaged ribbon cable, Moisture intrusion on control boards, Failed main PCB or display PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air conditioner before removing the control panel or accessing internal wiring.
- Power cycle: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes to allow the control electronics to fully discharge. Reconnect and test. If E6 returns, continue.
- Access control panel: Remove the front bezel to expose the display/control board. Carefully detach the panel to access the ribbon or wire harness connecting it to the main PCB.
- Inspect connectors: Check both ends of the communication cable for loose fit, corrosion, or bent pins. Reseat the connectors firmly.
- Check cable condition: Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections of the ribbon cable. Replace the cable if any damage is visible.
- Dry moisture: If there are signs of condensation or liquid spills on the control board, gently dry the area with a soft cloth and allow the unit to air dry completely before reassembly.
- Board replacement: If reseating and replacing the cable does not clear E6, either the display PCB or main PCB is likely defective. Replacing these boards should be done by a qualified technician to avoid miswiring or ESD damage.
