Possible Causes
Failed indoor fan motor, Jammed blower wheel, Faulty fan motor capacitor, Loose motor wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. The blower wheel edges can be sharp; wear gloves.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front cover and inspect the blower wheel for foreign objects (plastic, insulation, etc.). Remove any debris.
- Spin test: Gently spin the blower by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If stiff, the motor bearings may be failing.
- Inspect wiring: Check the motor harness connector at the motor and main PCB. Reseat any loose connectors.
- Capacitor check: Locate the fan motor capacitor (often a small cylindrical component near the motor wiring). If it is bulging or leaking, replace it with the same µF rating and voltage.
- Motor replacement: If the blower is free but the motor does not run even with a good capacitor, replace the indoor fan motor with a compatible Black+Decker part.
