Possible Causes
Failed DC indoor fan motor, Blocked or jammed blower wheel, Faulty indoor fan driver circuit on PCB, Loose fan motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and wait for the indoor fan to stop completely before working near the blower.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front panel and filters. Look into the blower area for foreign objects (plastic, insulation, insects) preventing rotation. Remove any debris.
- Spin test: Gently rotate the blower wheel by hand. It should spin freely without grinding. If stiff, the motor bearings may be failing.
- Inspect wiring: Locate the indoor fan motor connector on the PCB and ensure it is fully seated. Check for burnt pins or melted plastic.
- Voltage test (advanced): With power on and a call for fan operation, measure the DC supply to the motor (often 310VDC or 36VDC depending on model). No voltage suggests a PCB driver fault; correct voltage but no rotation suggests a bad motor.
- Replace faulty part: Replace the Blaupunkt indoor DC fan motor or the indoor main PCB as indicated by testing.
